ALL CHANGE!

As of September 2016 BLTC left Wildwood Ecology with it's Director Richard Crompton who has moved to pastures new to focus more on training and advisory services, including "Ecology on Demand" (EcologyOD). BLTC will continue to be taught by Sandie and Richard just as before, but all enquiries and bookings will now be handled by Richard Crompton Limited. For all enquiries please contact Richard{at}EcologyOD.co.uk  [Replace {at} with @].

We are grateful to Wildwood for providing the admin support for BLTC since the begining in 2008. We wish all of our friends there the very best for the future and hope to collaborate on some new projects soon! You can still visit the Wildwood Ecology website here: www.wildwoodecology.com

Just a reminder that we no longer post course availability on this blog as it changes so fast! Contact us by email for booking and availability information.

BLTC is proving as popular as ever, and bookings are handled by Mrs Chris Rischmiller at Wildwood Ecology. Rather than leave this blog to get out of date because I am too busy to update it, drop Chris a line at training [at] wildwoodecology.com and she will let you know what current availability is like.
We are now taking bookings for courses 24 (starts March 2016), 25 (starts August 2016), and 25 (Starts December 2016) and will have our 200th BLTC trainee!

Welcome to BLTC 2014!

We are steaming through courses with places on BLTC 20 already being accepted which will take us to over 150 trainees since 2008! Courses this year continue to book up rapidly.
Don't forget that BLTC is the only course available taught by two of the most experience bat trainers and consultants in the UK specifically designed for professional bat surveyors.
Please contact us at training@wildwoodecology.com for the most up to date course information or check the website at www.battraining.co.uk

2014 bookings

BLTC's are filling up fast for 2014, with bookings now being taken for August and December entry dates (BLTC 19 and 20).
Just a reminder that it is essential that all applicants collate their experience in a diary and get signatures for as much of this as possible - especially the visits to bat roosts and other licensed situations - without this we cannot progress your application.

A reminder that the MINIMUM entry requirements are: 50 bat contact hours (time spent seeing bats/bat signs) + a MINIMUM of five visits to known bat roosts with a licensed bat worker, but the more experience you have the better and nothing is better for learning than getting out there and seeing it!
You will need additional hours outside of the BLTC before you can complete the course too -it is not a course for the feint hearted or those that cannot dedicate serious time and commitment. Becoming a licensed bat worker is far more than just 'going on a course'!

Class licensing for bats - STOP PRESS!

Following the recent announcement that Natural England bat licences will now follow the new Class Licence system, we can confirm the BLTC will provide training towards Class Levels 1 and 2*.
http://www.naturalengland.org.uk/ourwork/regulation/wildlife/batlicencefeature.aspx
and our Bat Catching and Handling courses will provide opportunities to gather skills for Class level 3 and 4 skills too. More information at www.battraining.co.uk

*As always, the availability of bats cannot be guaranteed, but we are rarely disappointed!
